Many of you know that we spend a significant amount of time talking with small business owners about the positive impact of online customer feedback. One of the typical complaints that I hear is that there is no “easy” way to ask customers for feedback.
We don’t believe that this is the case anymore, certainly not for businesses that are using Bizyhood – either directly or through their hyperlocal digital publisher. As an example, I wanted to compare what a small (ecommerce) business owner can do on Amazon compared to what a similar small (local) business owner can do on their online community news site.
I recently purchased some athletic bands from a small business listing their products on Amazon. I received an “automated” email from Amazon asking me for a product review, and I went ahead and gave the product a review. The next day, I got a personal email from the business owner:
I just noticed that you left positive feedback and I wanted to personally thank you. It was a very kind review and it means a lot to my small business!
Would you mind doing me a favor? Seller feedback is different than a product review. I was wondering if you would be willing to write a review on the product listing as well?
That would be wonderful and greatly appreciated!
Thanks so much and please let me know if you ever need anything in the future.
There are two important aspects to this process:
- The “system” was able to automatically send out an email to the customer asking for feedback
- The “owner” is able to reach out individually on their own if they care to
This small business owner is no larger than a typical small local business – the only difference is that she “hosts” her store online with Amazon, while the small local business either has a storefront or may work out of their home. But, they can still have a “platform” that helps them automatically and manually reach out to customers. And they can do it in a way that helps them with their online visibility – not globally via Amazon, but hyperlocally through their local digital publisher. Who just so happens to serve up the exact people that your small business wants to target!
Asking for online customer feedback is likely the easiest and highest value thing you can do for the online visibility of your business.
And if you are a small and local business, now you have as powerful and simple way to do it as businesses that list their products on Amazon. So, what are you waiting for?
